2. Introduction.
Hello everyone and welcome to Deckbuilding101, so I was given this idea, by a topic that was here. This is here, so maybe people can be helped by this.
3. How to Start?
For starters we are going to have to pick what type of deck you want to build, whether it's an archetype, attribute, or type based deck. Archetype is the easiest of these, so we will start with this, as you search it up and it gives you a bunch of cards that will work together. Although, some archetypes are easier than others.
First of all we are going to start with a blank slate:
- Spoiler:
Then, we are going to pick the archetype we are going to base the deck off, in this case I have picked madolche.
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Archetypes This is a link of archetypes in the game, if you don't know any:
- Spoiler:
Now, I would suggest you to search up a few decklists on youtube or tcgplayer. This will help you work our how many of each card from the archetype is a good number. Now, as I am an "expert" on madolches, I already know the ratio:
- Spoiler:
I have chosen:
- Code:
-
1 Madolche Chouxvalier
2 Madolche Cruffsant
3 Madolche Hootcake
3 Madolche Magileine
2 Madolche Messengelato
2 Madolche Mewfeuille
2 Madolche Chateau
2 Madolche Ticket
1 Madolchepalooza
4. What to do If You Don't Have Enough Monsters?
Now, as you might be able to see, I seem to have a small amount of monsters, so we are going to use either some good tech monsters that work well in decks, that I might list in a later guide, or a support archetype, maybe even a combination of both. In this case we have chosen a support archetype, I have chosen T.G. (if you already have ~20 monsters, you can skip this step):
- Spoiler:
- Code:

I have chosen:
2 T.G. Striker
2 T.G. Warwolf
5. Staple Cards.
Next, we should add in some staple cards, now you don't need to use all of the ones I have put in here, but I would recommend it. Some decks don't require traps though, so not all of them will require these. Also, there are other cards you can put in, but I have chosen just these ones:
- Spoiler:
- Code:
-
I have chosen:
1 Book of Moon
1 Dark Hole
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Compulsory Evacuation Device
1 Solemn Warning
1 Torrential Tribute
2 Fiendish Chain
2 Mirror Force
6. Hand Traps.
Now, we should include some hand traps in the deck, there are a lot of good ones, but I have only picked 2 for this deck:
- Spoiler:
- Code:
-
I have chosen:
2 Effect Veiler
2 Maxx "C"
7. Tech Cards.
Finally, we should think of some tech cards that help the deck (if there is any room), there are a lot of them, but in this case I have picked 1 card:
- Spoiler:
- Code:
-
I have chosen:
2 Double Summon
This is the finished main deck, one quick not is that I would recommend between 40-42 cards for your main deck, but there are still 2 key components of the deck we haven't finished.
- Spoiler:
- Code:
-
2 Effect Veiler
1 Madolche Chouxvalier
2 Madolche Cruffsant
3 Madolche Hootcake
3 Madolche Magileine
2 Madolche Messengelato
2 Madolche Mewfeuille
2 Maxx "C"
2 T.G. Striker
2 T.G. Warwolf
1 Book of Moon
1 Dark Hole
2 Double Summon
2 Madolche Chateau
2 Madolche Ticket
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Compulsory Evacuation Device
2 Fiendish Chain
1 Madolchepalooza
2 Mirror Force
1 Solemn Warning
1 Torrential Tribute
8. Extra Decks.
Now, we need to build the extra deck. We have XYZs, Synchros and Fusions (although they aren't used much) at our disposal. Now In my case, we can easily go into rank 3 and 4 XYZs and level 5 and 6 Synchros.
- Multiple images in here, so don't be suprised.:
Now, most of my cards in here are staples for the particular rank/level, but some are techs that wont work in every deck.
- Code:
-
I have chosen:
1 Fairy King Albverdich (tech)
1 Gagaga Cowboy (staple)
2 Queen Madolche Tiaramisu (tech)
1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn (staple)
1 Number 39: Utopia (staple)
1 Number 50: Blackship of Corn (staple)
1 Leviair the Sea Dragon (staple)
1 Number 17: Leviathan Dragon (staple)
1 Soul of Silvermountain (tech)
1 Wind-Up Zenmaines (staple)
1 Ally of Justice Catastor (staple)
1 Armades, Keeper of Boundaries (staple)
1 Naturia Beast (tech)
1 Naturia Barkion (tech)
9. Side Decks.
Now, there are a lot of staple cards that I might go over in a later article, depends on whether or not I want to make more.
The final part of the deck building process is a side deck, this is incredibly useful in matches, as it can almost gurantee victory against certain decks, aslong as you have the right cards and they don't have a way to stop them, but watch out that your side deck cards don't conflict with your deck too much and :
- Spoiler:
- Code:
-
I have chosen:
1 Effect Veiler
2 Fencing Fire Ferret
1 Maxx "C"
1 Psi-Blocker
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Prohibition
2 Imperial Iron Wall
2 Light-Imprisoning Mirror
2 Dark-Imprisoning Mirror
2 Waboku
10. Conclusion.
So, this concludes the first part of my Deckbuilding101 guide, hope this helped you.
